About the Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE)
The mission of the Center for Innovation in STEM Education (CISE) is to bring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to the forefront of K-16 education through leadership and service. CISE is a regional center focused on enabling transformative and inspiring STEM learning experiences. About the CISE Accounts Specialist Position
The Accounts Specialist serves as a liaison between CISE and the CSUDH Foundation and supports CISE team members as it relates to accounting, purchasing, financial, and human resources activities. The Specialist adheres to and guides the CISE Team to adhere to all proper CSUDH Foundation processes and procedures, which includes communicating with the team regularly when new processes and procedures are implemented.
This position is a full-time, non-exempt, benefited position, plus employer-sponsored health, dental vision, life insurance, retirement program, and sick/vacation pay.
$23.00- $25.00 – Depending on Qualifications
- Work closely with Foundation staff to monitor the financial and accounting activities of all CISE accounts.
Properly allocate expenses to correct funding sources.
Manage the requests, approval, budget, and purchases for CISE special events and activities.
Prepare and monitor staff mileage, travel, and purchase reimbursements
Obtain invoice approvals and track vendor and University payments
Prepare invoice requests for special projects and events.
Manage the requests, approval, and purchase of staff and program supply and equipment requests.
Preparation of Personnel Transaction Requests (PTR) forms for new hires and rehires for staff, student assistants, and faculty.
Communicate with program coordinators regarding processes and procedures for job postings and position searches, and faculty and instructor compensation for each semester.
Complete PTRs for all CISE staff prior to the new fiscal year.
Conduct Paychex time review and approval for all staff and student assistants.
Provide the Executive Director with monthly accounts balances and financial reports for semi-annual and annual performance reports and other funding reporting requirements, and as requested.
Ensure complete confidentiality of sensitive information.
Perform all other duties as assigned and required.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (finance, accounting, economics, or business administration)
Experience in finance, accounting, and human resources activities
Experience in managing grant budgets is highly desired
Knowledge of database maintenance
Experience in the preparation of comprehensive financial reports
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint; Google suite

- Outstanding leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable to quick turnaround deadlines with short notice
- Enjoys collaborating and working in a team environment
- Must possess good time management and multitasking skills in executing projects
